Justin and I wrap up the remaining listener questions and give a recap of my Kansas trip. As always, if you listen close to Justin, you can learn a lot. His training style and patience can develop your training to the next level.

Jan 29, 2020

I had a great trip to Kansas to chase quail and chickens. Justin was there for three weeks running dogs and training. Wild birds are the key to making a well-rounded dog, and that's why he goes the extra mile/season to make sure his dogs and his client's dogs are on the top of their game. Then we answer listener questions to help you get ready for next season.

Dave Miller is the shotgun product manager for CZ USA  he shoots world records and runs flushing dogs. he might be my idol.... We talk about new products, wild bird shooting and why target and birds are different

Mike Carpenter proves that miles equal grouse. Mike and his French Brittanies run the ridges of the Appalachian mountains in search of the bird that most of us hunt on flat ground. His mountain biking background gave him the love of the area, and love of upland hunting keeps him hiking with a gun and finding the mountain grouse of the Eastern United States.

2020 kick off with Bart George, Biologist, houndsmen, an all-around great hunter who dances with wolves. Bart has a small pack of hounds that live in the house and sleep in beds. Don't think that these pampered pooches can't dish it out to a mountain lion. They do!!!!

Twas the night before Christmas

And all through the house, not a canine was stirring, not even a mouse. The dogs were all nestled asleep on their beds, while visions of food bowls danced in their heads. Their stockings were hung in the kennel with care, in hopes that some milk bones would soon be found there.  Mama with her wine glass and I with my beer were enjoying a nightcap cause morning was near. The dogs rose before sunrise and started to bark, we loaded them up and off to the park. The moon on the crest of the new-fallen snow made it easy to find places for the dogs to go. We quickly picked poop with bags on our hands and promptly tossed it park supplied cans. Returning to home we found the old elf, he was filling the stockings alone by himself.  We thought if we scared him he might disappear, and the dogs would not get their favorite pigs' ears. Laying a finger aside of his nose he said Merry Christmas and up the chimney, he rose. The dogs were all happy  The End

Robert and I dig a bit deeper into the world of Retrievers. We talk about the elephant in the room. And also talk about the Queen Mother at field trials. His book "Absolutely Positively Gundog Training", is refreshing and informative.

Dec 10, 2019

This is part one of my chat with one of the countries best dog trainers. Robert started out like many of us. bending a dog to our will, but found that positive communication and reward, was the path to better dogs with less training time.

Kaci & Cory Gillen decided to purchase and remodel an upland hunting lodge in her home state of South Dakota.  The only catch was that it was all Kaci's to manage, guide, and occasionally mop the floors too!! Podcast listeners came from as far away as Florida to experience White Lake Hunting Lodge. We came away with a feeling of meeting family. WLHL is a gold star lodge with a blue-collar heart.

Nov 18, 2019

Lisa Williams was given the challenge to FIX the problem. The PA game commission has been working day and night to get the answer that we all have been waiting for. Were not out of the woods but.... There's science-based mapping that is going to give us the edge on West Nile and what we can do to work around it!! Don't skip any of this episode!!

Oct 27, 2019

We took off in a windstorm, landed on dirt and then jumped onto a charter boat. The dogs even got motion sickness! This trip was a once in a lifetime adventure. Grouse hunters are known for difficult terrain, difficult shots and the worlds fastest flushing gamebird. So we thought, why not add travel logistics to make it even more challenging.

Oct 20, 2019

I stoped at Juggernaut Spainiels to visit Jordan Horak. His new twist on an old training tool will be standard equipment in my kennel from here on out. He didn't just reinvent the wheel, he showed me some proven techniques to yard training that I had not thought possible. Especially for those with limited space. Jordan's success in the Spaniel trial world was built off this idea.

Sep 25, 2019

The second part of Johns journey into all things duck!! and I read a few bad reviews from iTunes!

Sep 21, 2019

Had a great front porch chat with John. His farm in Northern Michigan sure doesn't look ducky... bet when he floods it, they will come. This guy has figured out how to build his own personal duck factory, yet he has also traveled the globe, chasing waterfowl on three continents. But when it comes down to it, there's no place like home.
