Dr Sarah Love is a Sports medicine Veterinarian. We talk about all the things we (you and I) don't do with our K9 athletes. Warm-ups cool-downs and stretching. That's right! maybe we could develop a simple per hunt routine that could help get a little more out of the creatures that we ask so much of!

We also talk about the onset and maintenance of Osteoarthritis, and what we can do about it.

My friend Jill was in the Valley this week. We took our dogs on a walk and swim and the conversation that developed was worthy of hitting the record button. Jill spends half of her year traveling to learn from some of the best trainers in the country. Then she applies it to her string of bird dogs while she guides hunts at otter Creek Farm and Distillery in Georgia. Just a great conversation that only dog people can enjoy!

It took some selective breeding about 60 years ago, but they got what they were looking for in Hungary. We just wrapped up a weekend in Wisconsin, learning some training methods that were new to me. But in the end, there are many roads that lead to success.

My daughter Jessi joins me to talk about our family, our dogs and her career path. As a Registered Dietitian, wife and mother. Jessi is taking those skills to the world of teaching and podcasting. Her show is called Kitchen Invitation. We talk about everything from Archery to Avocados and why she still loved some of my dogs that didn't love her cats.

More of my conversation with Max about the DD and why I may need one someday. But dont worry I have a new Cocker to get trained first!

And I did not have to brush up on my German. Max and his wife live and love the breed and the club that comes with it!  VDD-GNA is a group that sticks to the traditions that gave us many of the breeds that we hunt with and brag about today.

Gunner Kennels engineer, Colton, found a job that justifies having a kennel full of bird dogs. One of the many ( dog crazy) employees that makeup the staff of the worlds safest dog crate.

I stopped in Nashville to talk with Addison Edmonds. We talk about his new pup and his first pup. "Gunner" was Addisons college project. He was also why Gunner Kennels was created. We talk about dogs, children, and how that all keeps us grounded in the lifestyle that we love!

What happens when you meet  a retired Marine Corp General? You talk bird dogs, and hunting of course. I had the pleasure of spending a morning in the quail fields with Walt Boomer. Along with meeting his beloved GSPs later in the evening. A day I will remember for a long time.

Scott Miller is the resident trainer at Brays Island. Before that his dogs earned more than 700 placements in field trials. he was the NBHA Open Handler of the year for 15 consecutive years. Starting out with training and competing and wining in the Coon Dog World Championships. He then took the NBHA trial world to a new level.

Oliver Burgess is a sportsman in the United Kingdom. He is not a member of the royal family, but he is (like us)  a member of the fraternity of upland hunters that do everything they can to keep the passion and lifestyle intact for the next generation.

It's been a few years since Seth paid us a visit. Updates on a well traveled season, some old dogs, some new dogs and a grocery bag full of Michigan craft beers, makes for a great episode on a cold Michigan afternoon.

Jill Koran spends her summers traveling the country. With a truck full of dogs, a fifth wheel camper and buddy to share the road with, They meet trainers, hunters, breeders and work their dogs along the way. She is on a grail quest to explore the world of bird dogs.

Bob St.Pierre joins me to talk about his last season and the upcoming event in Omaha. After a year of closures for public gatherings, Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic is returning. This event is like no other in the bird dog world. Hell, it's like nothing else in the universe!! I hope to see you all out there this March 11-13.

Way before the pointing dogs emerged, the dogs that could track, made the pack. To this day there is a primal connection to our past as hunter-gatherers. The Houndsmen of today are keeping the traditions alive. Might be lions, bears, fox or raccoons, no dogman works harder at their passion. Dan Abdelnoor aka Doggy Dan joins me to talk all things behavior and training. or is it training and behavior?? Dan works with pet owners all over the globe with his on-line training. We compare notes of how this relates to our bird dogs and our training. Remember in the end they are all K9s and they all learn like K9s. It is usually us that thinks they speak and listen in english.
